Jeremy D. Rachlin – Partner & Litigation Lawyer
Areas of Practice: Commercial Litigation, Civil Litigation, Estate and Trust Disputes, Fiduciary Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, Employment Defense
Jeremy Rachlin, a partner at JDKatz, leads the firm’s litigation work on behalf of businesses, individuals, personal representatives, trustees, and beneficiaries of estates and trusts.
Jeremy began his legal career with a one-year term as the judicial clerk for the Honorable John W. Debelius, III of the Montgomery County Circuit Court. Jeremy came to the firm in 2012 following five years in the litigation department at another Montgomery County firm. Jeremy has litigated cases in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and the District of Columbia. He practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, and has developed a particular expertise in estate and trust litigation.
Jeremy is mindful of the toll of litigation on his clients and works collaboratively with his clients to tailor a cost-effective litigation strategy that minimizes the emotional and monetary costs of the litigation process while bringing satisfactory closure to a difficult situation as rapidly as possible. Jeremy takes pride in exploring and explaining all available dispute resolution approaches to his clients in a way that is easily understandable and allows clients to weigh the costs versus the benefits of each possible approach.
Jeremy is frequently called upon by lawyers, accountants, and other professionals to present continuing legal and professional education courses. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the best rising attorneys in Maryland and the District of Columbia in 2012 and 2013, and was recognized as one of the top 5% of attorneys in Maryland and the District of Columbia in 2014 and 2015.
Jeremy devotes many hours of service to the practice of law and to various committees of the Montgomery County Bar Association and Montgomery County Bar Foundation. In June 2012, in recognition of his outstanding leadership across various committees and sections within the Montgomery County Bar, Jeremy was inducted by the Montgomery County Bar Foundation to serve a ten-year term as a “Bar Leader.”
Jeremy is a lifelong Maryland resident, born and raised in Silver Spring, a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, and a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore. In undergraduate school, Jeremy received a B.A. in psychology and earned citations from both the University Honors Program and the Gemstone Honors Program. Prior to his career in law, Jeremy served as a coach in the Montgomery County Swim League for four summers and as an age group coach for a Potomac Valley Swimming Club for two years. Outside of the office, Jeremy enjoys travel, good television, fantasy football, and good sports (particularly the Terps, Redskins, and Nationals). He resides with his wife, daughter, and rescued dachshund in Olney, Maryland.
