Montgomery County Business Alert!

On July 1, 2021, the minimum wage increases for employers in Montgomery County Maryland increases to:

  • $15 for employers with 51 or more employees,
  • $14 for employers with 50 or fewer employees, and
  • $13.50 for employers with 10 or fewer employees.

This is part of Bill 28-17 which was signed into legislation on November 17, 2017, and incrementally raises the minimum wage each year through 2023.

On July 1, 2022, the minimum wage will rise to $15 + CPI-W (Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers) for large employers, $14.50 for midsized employers, and $14 for small employers.

On July 1, 2023, the minimum wage will rise again. This time large employers will have the minimum wage increased annually by CPI-W (in addition to the $15 base), $15 for midsized employers and $14.50 for small employers.

Montgomery County based business owners must make sure that they are in compliance with these new increased rates to avoid costly employment disputes and litigation.
