Elizabeth J. McInturff, Esq., of JDKatz, P.C., recently wrote a guest column for The Daily Record titled, “How to navigate the holidays.” In this column, she advises the best way to address issues within a child custody arrangement that does not incorporate a holiday schedule is to establish an interim agreement via email or a partial written agreement. Within this agreement, both parents can outline how and when their minor child will share in and experience family and religious traditions, along with where their minor child will spend the holiday. She also advises on the best methods for having a minor child spend their holiday with both parents (i.e., alternating holidays between parents, spending half the holiday with each parent, etc).
